Reducing Enviromental Canced Risk – What We Can Do Now

Home Filtered Water May Decrease Consumption of Carcinogens says President’s anti-cancer panel

Home water filters are an excellent way for people to reduce their exposure to dangerous carcinogens that may be inadvertently getting into our potable water supply. This is the conclusion of a recent annual report published by the President’s Cancer Panel.

There is nothing really new in these findings – it is what many independent water testing authorities have known for years. Home filters have long been recognised as the ultimate way to ensure that the water you consume is in reality safe to drink.

According to the “Reducing Environmental Cancer Risks: What We Can Do Now” report: “…filtering home tap water or well water can decrease exposure to numerous known or suspected carcinogens or endocrine-disrupting chemicals.”

The three member President’s Cancer Panel includes at least two well-renowned and respected physicians or scientists who report back on an annual basis on the latest findings concerning environmental cancer risks.

In addition, experts from the Water Quality Association (WQA) are drawing attention to other types of water contaminants such as pesticides and some endocrine disrupting substances that are found in personal hygiene products.

The WQA is an international non-profit trade association that represents the interests of industrial, commercial and residential water treatment industries.

They have developed a system of Gold Seal certification which is awarded to those water treatment products that remove a variety of different contaminants making the water fit for human consumption. Their membership is made up of more than 2,500 distributors and dealers in water treatment equipment as well as the manufacturers of such equipment.

To find out more information about their Gold Seal certification program which includes their useful feature of how to Find a Water Professional, please check out the WQA website.
